2 Chron 7:1 'When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple'.
it has been a trying week on my finances. when holidays are here, i always spend a lot of money because i'm out frequently. on top of that, i have no allowance. time is money, i've also been giving a lot of my time. i hope i've made a difference in their lives! was just reminded that when you use your talents and gifts, it may be tiring but u feel charged up when u do it!
recently, i have been tutoring some kids. i've came across all kinds. the smart sort, relatively easy to teach, u can just leave them on their own. the quiet sort, u don't really know if they get it or not, have to keep pressing in to get a response from them. the cannot-sit-still sort, very short attention span. the like-to-question sort, has a very inquiring mind, often asking questions which are hard to answer, haha, and their fav qn is 'can u let me go earlier?'
i realised i'm not the very rah-rah kind. cant get excited with children jump up and down and play with them. i remember when i first started serve in cch i had to do cheerleading and i was very very reluctant! it's just not me.. i am relatively passive. but thank God that He has not forsaken me. haha.. i've received much grace to do things i'm not good at or dont like to do. when God calls u to something, He gives u the provision too! amen for that.
have i found my place? i guess so. i like to visit families and talk to them. i have no time to watch tv, so i buy 8 days to read drama synopsis. then i can have a common topic with housewives, maids and channal 8 drama crazy kids. i realised to be relevant, u need to be a jack of all trades. u have to at least know a bit of everything so that u can talk to people abt them. i try to be up to date and engaging. i try to be mature cos i'm dealing with adults who claim they eat salt more than i eat rice. i dont wanna remain superficial! i wanna touch lives! i wanna have the competitive advantage!
over the weekend, rev casey treat came to share with us about renewing our minds. i looked at my own life and i thought that it was very true. i was reminded one trivial matter last year. u know during visitation i like to wear light clothes like tshirt jeans and sandals so that it's more comfy to walk. then andrew asked me why do i always wear the same things and sometimes i look very lok kok. seriously i was quite insulted and pissed off with him at his insensitiveness and blatantly telling a girl that she doesnt look good. then after awhile i got renewed in my mind that when i visit i have to present myself well and give my best to the kids and families, it's not just about going thru the motion and ensuring my self comfort. so now i make it a point to dress better, even though it will be more uncomfortable, or i'll perspire more.
jump into the river and flow along. i'm running after You!
