YUCK YUCK YUCK!

today my lecturer showed us a video of childbirth.

and the camera is penning at the woman's vagina while she's in labour.

so the orifice is bloody and the doctor uses a pair of scissors to cut the opening bigger for the baby's head. (at this point i was near the point of vommiting)

he then sticks his hand in and pulls the baby out while the mother is contracting.

so the baby is finally out and i feel quite relieved that all the gore is ceasing.

before i could sigh, the doctor sticks his hand in again, while using the fingers of the free hand to keep the woman's orifice open, and pulls out her placenta. his hand goes in at least twice to make sure all tissues are dug out.

i tell you, i was near the point of fainting.

he made us watch childbirth 5 times. breech delivery and twins delivery and what-have-you.

just when i was deciding that Cesarean section is the method of me, it was time to see it being performed.

i could not bear to open my eyes.

so you see a hole where the doctor has cut to remove the baby. pretty simple, not much fuss.

BUT, the procedure ends with the doctor taking the whole womb out of the woman's body and digs out the placenta, cleans it, rubs the blood off it. and puts it back.

watching this is even worse than watching SAW.

i am really traumatised, and i'm trembling as i type this.

i dont know if i want to have a baby! have the doctor cut me and stick his hand into me. ARGH!!!

i'm sorry to dismiss the joy of childbirth, but i'm totally horrified now.

maybe ignorance is indeed bliss.
